Stanford University Footbag Club

Stanford University Footbag Club

The Stanford University Footbag Club is a voluntary student organization at Stanford University. The principle purpose of the club is to promote the sport of footbag as a healthy, alternative activity at Stanford and in the Bay Area.

Club Activities

The footbag club meets weekly on Tuesdays, 3-6pm, in White Plaza to play freestyle footbag. All players are welcome, regardless of skill level. Many of the players who frequent this weekly game are advanced players who are more than willing to teach new players their tricks. For regular footbag net action and other regular games, see the Bay Area Kicking Schedule for this month.

The club hosts a yearly amateur footbag competition, called the Western Regional Footbag Championships. This event is now in its 10th year (and its third year at Stanford). Players from around the U.S. and western Canada compete at this popular event -- see Upcoming Events for more information on upcoming footbag events in the Bay Area and around the world.

Club Membership

There are approximately 15 students in the club, as well as local players who frequent club events. You don't have to be a student to be attend club functions. The president for the 1994-5 academic year is Price Lawhon, peppers@leland.stanford.edu. The club's founder, and still a very active member of the club, is Steve Goldberg, brat@gregorio.stanford.edu.

Bay Area Footbag

The Stanford Footbag Club is a part of a larger footbag organization in the Bay Area, the Bay Area Footbag League.

The World Footbag Championships will be held this summer in the Bay Area!! For more results down to the last place (133 competitors) from last year's event, click here.
