The MIT Weather Radar Laboratory, a part of the Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Science (EAPS), is located on the 18th floor of the Green Building (54) on the MIT Campus in Cambridge, MA. Two Doppler weather radars are operated and supported by MIT: a portable C-Band WR73, used for field experiments, and an S-Band FPS-18 fixed on the roof of the Green Building.
In addition to current operations, the Laboratory maintains a radar data Archive, containing nearly twenty years of local and field observations of storm systems. Due to the large volume of data, this archive is not currently servable over the net. Interested researchers should contact Dennis Boccippio or Dr. Earle Williams at MIT to arrange data access.
