Special Events or Important Notices

• An announcement (1994 December 29) by CompuServe and Unisys has resulted in changes to these pages. Unisys owns the patent on the LZW compression used in GIF images and appears to be requiring all users of GIF format images to register and pay royalties. Until the legal issues are resolved (to my satisfaction, at least), I am endeavoring to change all GIF format images on this site to JPEG or XBM format. If images appear to be missing or of low quality, my apologies.
