Downloading The Games
The following games are available. Click on a game's picture to
download a tar file containing the game. Choose a directory and filename
for the downloaded tar file; "gameName.tar" is a good
choice. Then, from the command line, untar the file. For example,
if you grabbed slotcar.tar, do the following:
tar xvf slotcar.tar # This creates a slotcar/ directory
cd slotcar; ./slotcar # This runs the game
Once the games has been extracted, you may also run it from the desktop;
just navigate into the appropriate directory and then double-click on
the game's executable icon.
The sound files for the games have been resampled at a lower rate than
the sounds on the Inventor Games CD, to save disk space on our ftp site
and to save you downloading time.
Race around in a slotcar! Try to beat your opponents, but... be
careful not to fly off the track or crash into anyone else.
Create mechanical linkages! Hook up pistons, motors, and bells
interactively. Start the motors and watch your contraptions contrapt!
Read the Help card for instructions.
Use the space-bar to shoot energy bursts at the puck and slap
it into your opponent's goal. Use the mouse to skate left
and right (left/right button), or up and down (middle
button). To play against a human opponent, see the README file.
Blow things up and recharge your energy as you fly through tunnels on
a futuristic flight school training mission.
Maneuver the pieces as they fall to the floor. Completely fill a layer
for more points and a longer game.
Roll the ball through the maze! Tilt the maze using the mouse, but be
careful not to let the ball fall into a hole. Press the '1',
'2', or '3' keys to play the tough,
very tough, or ultra-tough maze.
Logic and reason are your only friends as you try to reconstruct
images. The numbers you see are clues that help you fill in the grid.
