AMASS provides direct file access to libraries ranging in capacity from gigabytes to many terabytes.
AMASS requires no modifications to the existing application software and presents the library as a single magnetic disk drive. An on-line directory, magnetic disk caching and block-oriented file retrieval are used for optimizing performance in multi-user/multi-tasking environments. Thus, AMASS makes a device typically considered as off-line storage become a truly on-line direct access storage device.
Optional file migration (HMS) software can be run as a layered solution providing both high performance direct access and data management for client/server magnetic disks.
