Top clubs and FIFA in player wrangle
THE limited league action in Europe last weekend has reopened the rift between major clubs and FIFA. Italy and Spain, having deemed that Euro 96 trips to Lithuania and Armenia did not warrant a break in their league programmes, were angered by the FIFA regulation which obliged clubs to play crucial fixtures without top foreign players. more

A COUNTRY recovering from war and whose football federation are so broke the players have to pay their air fares to play international football should not even qualify for the 1996 European Championship, let alone stand a chance of winning it. more
