Nano S.

Nano S. is an Indonesian composer with degrees from from conservatories in Bandung and STSI Surakarta. He is married to the singer Dheniarsih, and they often perform together. He creates both pop and classical music and has more than 200 cassettes in circulation. Nano teaches at SMKI Bandung and has taught in the US and Japan.

Asmat Dream is a collection of music from contemporary Indonesian composers, released by Lyrichord Discs. Traditional gamelan instrumentation, indigenous instruments of diverse cultures, and instruments of the composer's own invention are combined - with splendid results. This CD makes a great introduction to Indonesian music that is not content to rest in a historic, preservationist mode.
