Shoukichi Kina

Shoukichi Kina has been shaking things up in the Japanese music scene since 1966, when his first recording, "Hai Sai Ojisan", propelled him to folk-hero status and became the inspiration for succeeding generations of Japanese bands. He is from Okinawa, a southern island of Japan, but his rural-pop band has had hits in many distant places, from Britain to Thailand.

Peppermint Tea house, a compilation Kina's work, was released by Luaka Bop records.
