About the Server
This is the official WWW Server of the Technical Japanese Program at the University of Washington.
In addition, we also run an anonymous ftp site
and a number of private mailing lists.
About the Machine
This server is a Power Macintosh 6100/60 24/250 running
WebSTAR 1.2.4 under System 7.5 (MacTCP 2.0.6).
In addition to MacHTTP, this server is running:
- Frontier 4.0b2 (aka "Aretha")
- Butler SQL Database and ButlerLinkWeb.cgi
- Miscellaneous custom CGI applications (about a dozen)
About the Graphics
The graphics for our home page and the TJP page header are courtesy of Mike Beil.
The image used is a picture from "The Quad" on the University of Washington campus.
I believe that the cherry trees shown are trees that were brought over from one of the summer estates of
the Emperor of Japan several decades ago. They are much more beautiful than this picture
can convey, especially on a sunny day (and very appropriate for our program).
The image was provided by the Health Sciences Center for Educational Resources at
the University of Washington. The images were designed using Adobe PhotoShop 2.5 for Macintosh.
Current Statistics
Because we like to experiment with the latest software and our own code,
the site is occasionally down, usually in the evenings when it has
crashed and we're not around to bring it back up. If you can't get in,
don't worry. It's not gone, just frozen for a while. Try again
tomorrow :-)
If it is running, though, you can check the current connection statistics
via my most recent Frontier CGI.
