About the Telecommunications Center

The Ohio University Telecommunications Center is a community and institutional information resource applying radio, television and related technologies in support of the goals of the university. The Center's resources are made available to support the teaching, research and administrative activities of Ohio University and other institutions.

The Center operates two public television stations, six public radio stations, a cable television channel, two-way televised instruction via the Higher Education Microwave Services (HEMS) and a variety of educational telecommunications services. Located at Ohio University's main campus in Athens, the Center provides services for thousands of citizens throughout southeastern Ohio and portions of West Virginia, Kentucky and Pennsylvania.

In addition to specific services, the Center also serves as a professional development laboratory for students at the university. Over 500 students participate in Center services each academic year, making it one of the largest student training programs in the country. While administratively separate, the Center maintains close alliance with related academic programs in the university's College of Communication.

We hope that this Web server will help introduce the Telecommunications Center to those who want to know more about us, and provide updates on programs for those who utilize our services.
