Peter Ellsworth was elected President and Chief Executive Officer of Sharp HealthCare in March of 1986. For 27 years prior to that time as an attorney in private practice, he represented Sharp on various matters. From 1977 to 1986, he served as Sharp's outside general counsel. Mr. Ellsworth received his undergraduate and law degrees from Stanford University. He has been active in community affairs. Mr. Ellsworth served as a member of the Executive Committee of the Greater San Diego Chamber of Commerce in 1993 & 1994. Currently, he is an advisory director of the Greater San Diego Chamber of Commerce, and a member of the Executive Committee of the Chamber's CEO Roundtable. Mr. Ellsworth is a member of the committee "Future of Primary Care," with the Institute of Medicine of the National Academy of Sciences. He also represents Sharp Health Care in a national study of ten major integrated health care systems being done by Northwestern University and Peat Marwick Mitchell.
