Information Technology Division (ITD)

The ITD Home Page
ITD's main page for campus computing information. Includes pointers to The ITD Documentation Database (Frequently Asked Questions, documentation produced by ITD, and ITD course announcements), Computing-Related tutorials, and more. There's also a gopher-based listing of ITD Workshops.

The public site for technical support is here.

Compaq
This page gives you a choice between the text-only or graphical version of Compaq Computer Corporation's home page.

Creative Labs
Manufacturer of PC sound, video and CD-ROM multimedia solutions, including Sound Blaster.

DEC
Or use the text-only version of the Digital Equipment Corporation's page.

DELL
Here's the text-only version of this page. You can also go right to technical support.

FTP, Inc.
Information on products including PC/TCP® for DOS/Windows and OS/2.

Hewlett-Packard, Inc.
Several pages offer tech support, including one presenting "global expertise" and the HP Support Line service.

IBI
The home page for Information Builders, makers of FOCUS.

IBM
Much of the technical info seems to be located on the Products and Services page. There's also a page devoted to IBM PC products, including a searchable IBM Personal Computer file library.

Kermit
The Kermit communications software collection at Columbia University.

Microsoft
MS Technet search takes you directly to the searchable index for MS TechNet. For help finding your way around ftp.microsoft.com, try the Microsoft FTP archives page. The Microsoft Knowledge base shows a different view of this site. The Windows FAQ is not an "official" Microsoft publication, but a helpful collection of Windows information maintained by Tom Haapanen and the Indiana University Support Center.

Novell
Query the Netware Support Database directly.

Oracle
Includes Oracle Customer Support and the online Oracle Magazine.

Pine
Includes a User's Guide, a FAQ list, and other information about the University of Washington's Pine e-mail program.

Qualcomm
Qualcomm makes the e-mail program Eudora (free and commercial versions are available for the Macintosh and Windows platforms).

Shiva Corporation
Information from "the remote access specialists."

Includes the Service and Support page.

The Ethernet Page
This page "provides access to information about Ethernet/IEEE 802.3 local area network (LAN) technology. This includes the original 10-Mbps system and the new 100-Mbps Fast Ethernet system."

PC Lube & Tune
From Yale, A collection of introductions, tutorials, and education on technical subjects, including An Introduction to PC Hardware, Introduction to TCP/IP, and Surviving the Next OS.

Ziff-Davis Publishing Company
A guide to the Web versions of several popular computing magazines, including PC Computing, PC Week, MacUser and MacWeek. The text-only version of this page loads a bit quicker.

CMP computer publications on-line
A free (for now), searchable index of articles from a variety of computing publications.

Computing Dictionary
Response time can be slow here, but the dictionary can be useful when you're looking at an acronym you just can't figure out.
