The computing lab in LAW W-104 is fully operated and maintained by Computing and Network Services (CNS) here at the University of Alberta. This means that CNS is repsonsible for installing all software, ensuring its proper operation on an ongoing basis, providing network services (like printing and internet connections).
Occasionally, you might find a problem in the computing lab. This document is here as a reference guide to help you, as a user, report and get solutions for problems that you experience in the lab.

Computing and Network Services has developed an interactive form on the world-wide-web to report trouble in a lab.
Use Netscape and connect to it at:
http://fmserver.ucs.ualberta.ca/
The CNS Help Desk is designed to provide immediate assistance with lab problems. If they cannot help you directly, they should be able to direct you to the people who can.
The help desk can be reached during normal business hours at 492-9400.
Computing and Network Services has developed a series of web pages to help answer common questions about using public computing labs.
Use Netscape and connect to it at:
http://www.ualberta.ca/CNS/HELP/
Each lab is stocked with paper-based trouble reporting forms that are picked up by CNS Lab Proctors on a regular basis. In the Law computing lab, paper trouble reports are at the front of the room behind the door you use to enter the lab.
Fill these out and they will be given to a CNS Lab Technician who will fix the problem.
Here are some of the people at CNS who are working to provide you services in the Law Computing Lab:
Name Email Position ---- ----- -------- Kevin Watts kevin.watts@ualberta.ca Lab Technician Lee Robinson lee.robinson@ualberta.ca Lab Tech Support Ray Lacousta ray.lacousta@ualberta.ca Team Leader, Public Labs Keith Switzer keith.switzer@ualberta.ca Manager, Client Services
If you cannot resolve your problem by trying the options listed above, you can contact these people in the Faculty of Law. They will be able to contact CNS on your behalf. However, since the computing lab is fully operated and maintained by CNS, people in the Law Centre most likely will not be able to solve many of your problems.
Name Email ---- ----- Mike Storozuk mike.storozuk@ualberta.ca Ann Wynn ann.wynn@ualberta.ca Brent Poohkay brent.poohkay@ualberta.ca
If you are having trouble with QL, you can contact.
David Carlson, QL Systems Ltd. Alberta Representative, (403) 488-1732
Alternatively, you might contact Mike Storozuk (michael.storozuk@ualberta.ca) in the Law Library. He is an expert in legal research and computing.
