ISDN

ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) is a digital medium that allows high speed communication connections. Interlog Internet Services is proud to offer Dial-Up ISDN at no extra charge.

How much faster is it?

64k ISDN is two to three times as fast as a 28.8 analog (normal modem) connection. Because it is a digital connection, it virtually eliminates all of the problems (line noise) that plague analog connections, as well as offering increased speed. With the proper hardware, you can connect with two channels (64k each), and acheive a 128k connection.

What do I need to use it?

You will need two components to connect to Interlog with ISDN:

A terminal adapter is comparable to a modem, except it is designed to handle ISDN connections as opposed to analog connections. Generally it interfaces with your computer through the serial port (just like your current modem). Interlog currently offers the Motorola Bitsurfr.

ISDN lines (Bell Canada refers to them as MICROLINK lines) are available from Bell Canada. When you request a line, Bell will advise you as to whether or not this service is available in your area. Currently Bell Canada is offering free residential ISDN installation. Monthly charges can vary from aproximately $55 to $120, depending on your useage. To order an ISDN line, call Bell Canada at 1-800-334-4736.
