The Palo Alto Historical Association publishes this Streets of Palo Alto (and numerous other books) as a fundraising activity. By allowing it to be placed online, for better public access, the Historical Association is running the risk of losing an important source of income. If you appreciate having this information available in a convenient online form, we encourage you to join the Palo Alto Historical Association or to buy your own copy of the book at any Palo Alto bookstore or by mail order.
The printed version of this book contains many historical photographs of people and places. Guy Miller, Palo Alto's historian until 1955, researched and wrote several articles on the early street names for the old Palo Alto Times.
An asterisk (*) indicates original street names chosen by Timothy Hopkins and William Mills when establishing the new town for the Stanfords.
