SunSITE Singapore Information
SunSITE (Sun Information and Technology Exchange) is a Sun Microsystems
sponsored program at key universities around the world. SunSITE Singapore
is a project managed by the Computer Centre, National University of
Singapore and Sun Microsystems Inc. The primary aim of this project is:
- To provide an easy access to public domain software on the internet.
- To act as a repository for Sun, government and regional information.
- To promote development and research of new internet tools.
- To archive materials of general interest.
The SunSITE Singapore web pages makes use of some HTML+ and HTML 3.0
features which may not be supported by all web browsers. We try to make
our pages readable on all web browsers, but to fully appreciate the
enhanced presentation layout, you may wish to use these web browsers:
What's On SunSITE Singapore
Here's a brief description of all web sections available on SunSITE
Singapore at a glance. The following list is organized according to the
web hierarchy we've put the information in.
- South-East Asian Focus
- Interactive map of South-East Asia
giving information about the many countries in South-East Asia.
- Information Providers
- Singapore Press Holdings offers a newslink service on the web. You can
use this service to search for articles in all major English language
newspapers in Singapore. This is currently still a demonstration system
and is limited to a small smaple of the newslink database.
- InfoAccess and Distribution, a CD-ROM publisher, offers an
interactive on-line catalogue from which you can request more information
regarding their CD-ROM titles.
- IEEE Singapore has on-line electronic versions of their conference
proceedings. General information about IEEE can also be found here.
- Memex Research Pte Ltd focuses on nanotechnology. You can find a list
of nanotechnology information links here.
- John Wiley & Sons has placed their entire journals catalogue
on-line. You can find descriptions of the journals, the editors,
subscription information, etc.
- Port of Singapore Authority has placed information about their
courses. Information about Singapore's excellent port is also available here.
- Asian Mass Communications Research & Information Centre is a
major resource for communicators in the Asia Pacific region. You can find
out more about their activities here.
- Other information available in this section include books, manuals
and magazines. These include the classic Alice's Adventures in
Wonderland, internet books like Zen and the Art of the Internet, etc. We
hope to develop this into a great on-line e-text library.
- Software & Information Archives
- SunInfo Electronic Archives contain software patches, programming
information, article archives, etc.
- Sun FlashBack Electronic Journals include the SunFlash, Sun FlashBack
and Internet Sun FlashBack journals in electronic form. These journals
are primarily of interest to Sun users and managers, but other users may
find some articles useful too.
- Public Domain Archives at the National University of Singapore
includes mirrors of a great variety of major FTP sites all over the
world. There are some 25 gigabytes worth of archives on this system.
- Multimedia Archives contain a selection of links to major
repositories of sound, picture and animation files around the world.

- Others
- The famous Le WebLouvre virtual on-line art museum lets you browse
through paintings and music. A mini tour of Paris is also included here.
- Internet Web Directory is a modest attempt at SunSITE Singapore to
compile useful links to other resources on the internet. These links are
annotated and link acesses are counted (statistics will be available
soon). Other directory items include links to major web search tools and:

- Singapore White Pages
