Advanced Automation Laboratory
Advanced Automation Laboratory
The Advanced Automation Laboratory is a multiplatform research and development facility focused on aviation aerospace applications. The examples of such are airspace modeling and simulation, global positioning satelite navigation, human factors in interface design, etc.
Currently the lab is shared with the researchers and instructors from the Center of Aviation/Aerospace Research and Aeronautical Science Department. Three Sun SPARC10 workstations are configured to run a high quality simulation software: Total Airspace Airport Modeler - TAAM. The software is used to develop simulation studies leading to optimization of airspace, structural and procedural changes, and new airspace and aiport design.
Two IBM RS6000 workstations are to be used to develop interfacing and data
acquisition software for the global positioning satelite system (GPS) initiative. We expect some work on software development in area of screen interface design, new advanced general aviation AGATE system, and configurable
flight simulation training system.
