Virtual Environments and Art
Professor Bonnie Mitchell - bonniem@syr.edu
CGR 500, Virtual Environments and Art is a special topics computer graphics theory course
which investigates the relationship between art and new technologies which claim to
offer the user the ability to experience artificial or virtual environments.
The class meets in room 018 Shaffer, Syracuse University from 1:00 - 3:30 Thursdays.
Required Reading:
"Artificial Reality II" by Myron Krueger
Numerous journal articles and chapters from VR books.
VR Technology and Society Debates
The students team up in groups of two and debate issues related to Virtual Reality.
The class is invited to join in on the debate once the students have finished presenting
their case. Because it is a debate, some of the students are forced to defend arguements
that they may not personally agree with, therefore we have withheld the student's names.
