STUDENT HEALTH SERVICES
Eligibility
All services at the Norris Health Center are available to the UWM student with a valid student i.d or proof of registration during fall, spring, and summer semesters. (Students not enrolled in summer courses, but who attend UWM during the spring semester may continue to use the Norris Health Center during the summer for a nominal fee.) Students auditing courses may use the health center if they pay the segregated fee.
Confidentiality
All medical and mental health services are voluntary and strictly confidential. Your written permission is required for release of your medical records.
Cost
Many health services are provided without charge (a portion of your fees supports the Norris Health Center). Other services, such as a co-payment for medications, require a nominal fee. You will be informed of additional charges.
If you need urgent medical or mental health services when the Health Center is closed, you are advised to contact your private physician, or go to a hospital emergency room or walk-in clinic. The cost of any health care service rendered outside the Health Center is your responsibility.

Medical/Health Services include
- On-Line Questions and Answers
- Sports Medicine
- Pharmacy dispenses medications prescribed by Norris Health Center medical providers. A limited supply of over-the-counter medications and contraceptives are also available. There is a copayment or charge for all items dispensed. Pharmacy is closed 12:00 - 12:30.
- General Medical Clinic
- Urgent Care (a walk-in clinic for more urgent problems)
- Specialty Services gynecology, orthopedics, sports medicine, pulmonary medicine, dermatology.
- Immunization / Injections tetanus, typhoid, measles, mumps, rubella, TB skin tests, allergy injections plus travel recommendations and immunization.
- Life Scope Profiles comprehensive life style assessment, health risk appraisal, along with a complete physical exam, laboratory studies, and counseling on lifestyle change and risk reduction.
- Nutritional Counseling
- AIDS Testing and Counseling(anonymous)
- Laboratory Tests blood analysis (including cholesterol), pregnancy testing, urinalysis, sexually transmitted disease testing, throat cultures.
- Mental Health Services Crisis intervention, short-term counseling/psychotherapy (including individual and group services, psychiatric consultation, referral for long-term treament.) There is no fee for counseling received at the Norris Health Center. Appointments are encouraged.
