Billing Frequently Asked Questions

What are the rates?
The rates range from $12 to $25 a month, and drop if you pay 3 or more months in advance. Here's more information about accounts and pricing.

Where do I send/bring my check?
Our Address:
Teleport Internet Services
319 SW Washington, Suite 615
Portland, OR 97204

How do I renew?
Send us a check. We try to notify people before their accounts expire. It's rare that we'll turn someone off without notifying them at least twice that we're about to do it.

What is my account type (also known as: "How much time and/or disk space am I using," or "When do I expire?")
You can email bill@teleport.com, which will send all of this information back to you.
Do you accept credit cards?
No, not yet. We're hoping to offer that option soon. Right now we take cash (at our downtown Portland office only--don't mail cash), money orders and checks. You can pay for one month, 3 months, 6 months or a year at a time. The price per month is lowest at the 6 months/yearly rate.

Do I get anything for referring people to Teleport?
Referral credits are a free month of service (at your current level) given to you when you recommend Teleport to a friend/ relative/ business collegue who says you are the Teleport Member who recommended them to us. Credits are given when the new user actually becomes a member of Teleport (goes beyond the free trial week and sends us a payment).

How do I know if I've received a credit?
We will notify you via email when the new user signs up using your name as referral. We will notify you a second time when they become a member and the credit is made to your account.

What if I'm exceeding my 30 hours per month IP time?
If you're going over your 30 hours per month, it is a mere $7 to upgrade to "deluxe" which allows you up to 120 hours monthly. IP time is counted any time you are connected via modem with Trumpet Winsock, MacPPP or another graphic access program. Telnet time from remote sites to Teleport does not get counted in your time.

How do I upgrade my account?
There are two steps involved in upgrading from a dialup to an IP account. The first is to fill out the form below. Support will process your request in one to two business days and then send you your IP passwords. At that point, you will be able to download all of the IP software. The second step is to send the new amount owed to billing. You can figure your bill by emailing bill@teleport.com (which is a program, not a person--it doesn't matter what you say in the letter) and seeing how much time you have left. If you're only upgrading one step, say from Economy to Regular the difference is $7 monthly. You'd just send us $7 times the number of months left. So if you have 2 months left of Economy you'd send us $14 to make it Regular. The same is true for upgrading from Regular to Deluxe, only you don't need a new IP password.

Fill this out only if you're upgrading from Economy to Regular or Deluxe!

What is your user name?
Do you want: PPP SLIP

How much is extra disk space, and how do I get it?
Extra disk space is $5 per megabyte per year. If you'd like to purchase additional disk space please mail check or money order with the amount of disk space you'd like to:
