Princeton's Experimental Home Page

Princeton, along with many other institutions, is experimenting with new features in World Wide Web browsers. Features such as tables (available in Netscape 1.1, the currently supported version, and 2.0) and frames (available in Netscape 2.0) are two of the features which will allow us to organize information in more compact and attractive ways. In addition, Netscape 2.0 offers support for Java and many inline plug-ins (replacements for helper applications). See the Netscape 2.0 press release for more information.

Princeton does not yet recommend or support Netscape 2.0 since, especially on the Macintosh, there are still some bugs to be worked out. There are many reports of Netscape 2.0 on Macintoshes crashing or hanging the machine. Netscape is working on upgrades and we will announce when Netscape 2.0 is more stable. We hope to be able to recommend and support it by the Fall semester. In the meantime, if you would like to download Netscape 2.0 and try its new features, please do so and let us know what you think about our experimental page.
