PowerBrowser Developer's Release 1
Release Notes
February 15, 1996

Here are updated release notes for PowerBrowser
Developers' Release 1:
1. If you are using FTP OnNet, NetManage Chameleon
or Novell LAN Workplace as your TCP/IP stack, you may
have problems downloading images using default
PowerBrowser settings. The solution is to reduce the
maximum number of simultaneous image downloads to any
number from 1 and 4 (the default is 10). To do this,
bring up Preferences dialog box. Click on the 'Timeouts'
tab, and change the value for simultaneous image
downloads to any number from 1 to 4.

2. A potential problem may exist if you run both the 16
and 32 bit versions of PowerBrowser on the same machine.
Both copies of PowerBrowser will look for a file called
webstatn.ini (in your Windows directory) for initialization
information. This file includes essential information
such as the base installation directory and the cache
directory for PowerBrowser. Both versions of PowerBrowser
will use configuration information supplied by the same
webstatn.ini file, which may cause problems.

3. If you connect to a site that uses Java or Netscape
plugins and get a cryptic message "NLO is not registered":
We are compatible with Netscape plugins in this release
and we will support Java in a subsequent release of
PowerBrowser. We support both technologies using a
programmable API called Network Loadable Objects (NLO).
In this release, if you connect to a site that includes a
Netscape plugin that you don't have installed, or if you
go to a Web site that contains a Java applet, you'll be
presented with a dialog saying "NLO not registered." This
will be fixed in the next release.

4. Using PowerBrowser with the Oracle WebServer: Oracle
WebServer ships with a demo application simulating a train
ticket purchasing service. This application demonstrates a
number of PowerBrowser features. There is, however, a bug
with the 32-bit version of PowerBrowser which makes it
improperly handle date-checking within the application.
This is a known bug and will be fixed in the next release
of PowerBrowser.

5. If you are upgrading PowerBrowser from an earlier
release, please read the notes below:
	- If you have a previous version of PowerBrowser on
your system, you should delete a file called
webstatn.ini inside your Windows directory. You
should do this before you upgrade to Developers'
Release 1. You do not need to delete your previous
	version of PowerBrowser.

	- After you run the installation program to upgrade
PowerBrowser, you should clear your cache before
you browse Web sites. You can do this by going to
the Options menu, selecting preferences, clicking
the "Cache" tag and pressing the button marked "Clear
	Cache Now."

	- If you specify a new directory in which to install
PowerBrowser, you should delete any older versions
of PowerBrowser before you perform the installation.
Before deleting old directory, you may want to copy
your old bookmark file and Personal Server Web pages
to your new PowerBrowser directory. For example, if an
old version of PowerBrowser is installed in C:\ORAPBOLD,
and the new version is installed to C:\ORAPB, then you
can preserve your old files by doing the following:
		- Change to directory C:\ORAPB\BOOKMARK
		- Issue the command XCOPY /E C:\ORAPBOLD\BOOKMARK
and answer yes to the question if you want to
		  overwrite the files.
		- Change to directory C:\ORAPB\SERVER
		- Issue the command XCOPY /E C:\ORAPBOLD\SERVER
and answer yes to the question if you want to
		  overwrite the files.

If you have any suggestions or bugs to report please send
mail to torgo@us.oracle.com.
