    UUCP Account Basic Features

Our UUCP accounts offer you the ability to gateway your BBS, DOS, Unix, or Mac into the Internet e-mail and Usenet news networks via periodic dial-up connections made every hour or so. With either UUCP account, you get:

  • A domain name registration.
  • Mail spooling on our server until you dial in to pick it up.
  • A partial news feed over the UUCP connection (A full newsfeed requires a T1 leased-line at minimum).
  • Resale to dial-up users and 'downstream UUCP' customers is allowed.

    Dial-Up UUCP Account Pricing
The Dial-Up (1 free hour/day) UUCP account offers you the ability to transfer 2-4 megabytes/day of UUCP traffic on modems shared by other dial-up UUCP users. Cost is $75 setup + $240/year ($20/month) or $25/month paid monthly, with $1/hour charges for overtime.

    Dedicated UUCP Account Pricing
The Dedicated UUCP account gives you a private line and unlimited ability to transfer mail and news - as long as you can keep up with the traffic to your site, as we delete mail and news batches not delivered within 3 days. Cost is $350 setup + $600/year ($50/month) or $75/month paid monthly.

    Dedicated 56k Leased-Line Account

A 56k leased-line (Frame Relay or standard 56k direct leased-line) offers twice the bandwidth and 5-10 times the speed of a 28.8 dial-up modem for gatewaying one machine or a whole LAN to the Internet.

With a Frame Relay 56k connection, you use Bell's "packet-switched Frame Relay cloud," whereas with a 56k direct leased-line, you have a direct point-to-point connection. Frame Relay offers the benefit of lower cost, but has slightly lower latency (packet transfer speed).

For more information about leased-lines please reference our Leased-Line FAQ.

  • Setup charges: $500 for 56k Frame Relay; $1250 for a direct link.
  • Recurring charges: $3000/year ($250/month) or $300/month paid monthly.
  • Resalable Pricing: $4000/year ($333/month) or $400/month paid monthly.

  • 256 IP addresses for your network.
  • Bell charges are additional and are $175/mo for Frame Relay.
  • Bell charges for a dedicated 56k line are $200-$400/mo.
  • 56k of bandwidth into Net Access.
  • Domain Name Service - primary, secondary, or both.
  • Either an NNTP news feed or NNTP access for up to 5 simultaneous users.
  • Backup mail exchange service in case your connection goes down.

    Dedicated 56k Leased-Line Account Policies:

  • Accounts are for one organization only.
  • Running of servers is permitted (encouraged) on 56k leased-lines.
  • The normal 56k Leased-Line dedicated accounts are not for resale.
  • Select here for information about resalable dedicated accounts.

    Dedicated T1 Leased-Line Account

A T1 (1.544 Mbit/second) leased-line (Frame Relay or standard) is 24 times faster than a 56k leased-line, and is 20-100 times faster than a dial-up modem. Most major universities and large companies have T1 connections to the Internet.

With a Frame Relay T1 connection, you use Bell's "packet-switched Frame Relay cloud," whereas with a T1 direct leased-line, you have a point-to-point connection. Frame Relay offers the benefit of lower cost, but has slightly lower latency (packet transfer speed).

For more information about leased-lines please reference our Leased-Line FAQ.

  • Setup charges: $1000 for T1 Frame Relay; $2250 for T1 direct leased-line.
  • Recurring charges: $8000/year ($666/month) or $800/month paid monthly.
  • Resalable Pricing: $12000/year ($1000/month) or $1200/month paid monthly.

New Offering: 128k Fractional T1: $1000 setup + $500/month. Only available over Frame Relay.

  • Bell charges are additional and are $435/mo for Frame Relay.
  • Bell charges for a dedicated T1 line are $400-$800/mo.
  • Equipment for your end is additional, and is between $2400 and $3000.
  • 256 IP addresses for your network.
  • T1 of bandwidth into Net Access.
  • Full Domain Name Service - primary, secondary, or both.
  • Either an NNTP news feed or NNTP access for up to 5 simultaneous users.
  • Backup mail exchange service in case your connection goes down.

    Dedicated T1 Leased-Line Account Policies: (Non-Resalable)

  • Accounts are for one organization only.
  • Running of servers is permitted (encouraged) on T1 leased-lines.
  • The normal T1 Leased-Line dedicated accounts are not for resale.

Dedicated T1 Leased-Line Account Policies: (Resalable)

We are happy and willing to sell T1s to other ISPs, either as primary or as backup links to the Internet.

We charge slightly more than for non-resalable accounts, because resellers have a higher support load (in our experience) - and because average bandwidth use of resellers is higher.

We are firmly committed to offering T1s for resale - we're not going to stop offering the service.

Select here for information about resalable dedicated accounts. We can be flexible with new ISPs. Please send e-mail to freedman@netaxs.com

    T1-Speed Private Machine Hosting

Net Access will host and provide monitoring and bandwidth to one of your machines for $500 setup + $800 per month. We will put your machine on a "guest ethernet" at one of our T1-connected Points of Presence and provide monitoring and maintenance of the machine.

If at some point you want a "full, private" T1 of bandwidth, a $2000 setup provides your machine with a private T1 port onto our network. (A T1 is 15% of a full ethernet).

If you are running web services, having your machine up and running 24 hours/ day is critical - someone is always up and active around the world!

    We provide:

  • As many IPs as you need for private web hosting. Initially, 32.
  • Full Domain Name Service - primary, secondary, or both.
  • Either an NNTP news feed or NNTP access for up to 5 simultaneous users.
  • Backup mail exchange service in case your machine goes down.

There are no restrictions on "resale" using your machine(s).

    Ethernet-Speed Private Machine Hosting

Net Access will host and provide monitoring and bandwidth to one of your machines for $1000 setup + $3000 per month. We will put your machine on a "guest ethernet" at one of our T3-connected machine rooms, plugged into an ethernet which is plugged in to one of our Cisco 7000 routers.

This will give your machine as much bandwidth as all of Temple University, University of Pennsylvania - and 6 times more bandwidth than connecting your machine to a T1 to the Internet!

    Dedicated 10 Mbit Leased-Line Account

A 10mbit connection is 6 time faster than even a T1, and 1/4th the speed of a T3 (T3s are currently the "backbone pipes" of the Internet). One large advantage of a 10mbit connection is that no special hardware is required. MFS will deliver to you a cable that you can plug into an ethernet hub - and you just plug your machines into the hub. No router or leased-line modem is required.

Using Bell Atlantic, Metropolitan Fiber Systems or Eastern Telelogics, you can get a 10mbit ethernet connection between Net Access and your location.

  • Net Access setup charge: $1000
  • Net Access monthly charge: $3000/mo

  • Bell, MFS, or ET monthly cost: $2000-$3000/mo.

  • 256 IP addresses for your network (one Class C)
  • Additional Class Cs available as needed.
  • Full Domain Name Service - primary, secondary, or both.
  • Either an NNTP news feed or NNTP access for up to 5 simultaneous users.
  • Backup mail exchange service in case your connection goes down.
  • Resale is allowed with the 10Mbit Accounts.

    Private Domain Name Services Account

Our Private Domain Name Services are add-ons to the Basic Shell or SLIP/PPP accounts. They give you a powerful Internet presence without the overhead of administering a dedicated connection. Net Access can point all mail for your entire domain to one or more dial-up accounts. We can also point WWW traffic for your domain to your Web pages housed on our servers. With Net Access's "Domain Name Aliasing" we can simply point WWW requests for your domain name aliasing." This service simply points WWW requests for your domain at our WWW server. Then, your customers can refer to your Home Page with the following URL: http://www.mycompany.com/~username. The only shortcoming of the alias is that if your customers omit the ~username part of the URL, they will get Net Access's Home Page instead of your company's Page. We can overcome this shortcoming by establishing a special Web space and an IP interface for your domain on our servers.

  • Set up your company's very own private domain name, e.g., mycompany.com.
  • All E-mail sent to anyuser@mycompany.com will be routed to your Net Access accounts(s).
  • Publish on the Web with a URL like http://www.mycompany.com.

    Domain Name Aliasing Pricing
You need either a Unix Shell or a SLIP/PPP account with us. Then the aliasing is only $50/year. This is to keep the name service records in our name servers and to provide the aliasing to dial-up accounts and www.yourcompany.com.

    Private Domain WWW Interface Pricing
This interface includes a Unix Shell account, SLIP/PPP account, and a private space and IP interface on our web server. The shell account includes 10mb of disk space and two standard CGI scripts (imagemaps and a "mail-to" form). At this time, no additional CGI capabilities are available. It is $100 to set up and $100/month.

    Resale Policies

    See our resale document.

    Usage Policies

Any illegal use of your account, connection, or server space may result in immediate disconnection of your service pending investigation. We will fully cooperate with any law enforcement authorities and are not responsible for any monetary or other losses resulting from such disconnection.

Net Access's maximum liability for problems with your service is a prorated credit or refund for time that your service was interrupted due to something under our control.

There's more, but we don't want to over-burden the web site with legalese. If interested, ask for our contract.

    Billing

  • Setup fees and the first month fee are due at the setup date.
  • Each month's fee is due by the first of that month.
  • Invoices will be sent out Net 30.
  • At 5 days past due, registered mail will be sent.
  • Any accounts 15 days past due will be logically disconnected.
  • Any accounts 30 days past due may be permanently disconnected.

If your company's billing cycle requires a longer bill-payment time, additional months of prepayment can be invoiced at the beginning of service. (So if you need to be able to be 45 days late before logical disconnection, you can prepay an extra month on setup). Our prices are very low and we spend a great deal on our connectivity infrastructure, so we can't spend excessive time collecting overdue direct connectivity and web hosting bills.
