Overview
Microsoft® Solutions Framework (MSF) was first initiated by Microsoft Consulting Services (MCS) as a project development discipline with the purpose of managing risk associated with large consulting engagements. MCS quickly learned that the fundamental principles of MSF were of genuine interest to organizations who were wrestling with the issues of migrating to distributed client-server technology. MCS began to expand MSF to include the teaming and process models that Microsoft product groups have successfully used to develop world-class software.
Today, Microsoft Solutions Framework is delivered via a training series for information technology professionals
migrating to distributed computing. The training goes beyond telling you what to do, but explains how by defining a proven process and supporting suite of reference models. It also provides tried and tested case studies from Microsoft consulting experience, and work examples and templates for quick execution.
Since the introduction of MSF in December 1994, more than 2,000
customers have been trained and have begun using MSF.
