Group Vice President, Platforms

Microsoft Corporation

As group vice president of Platforms, Paul Maritz oversees all groups and divisions contributing to Windows, tools, database and communications products, and evangelism activities. The divisions include the Business Systems, Personal Systems, Developer, and Consumer Systems.

Since joining Microsoft in 1986, Maritz has managed various systems software product groups. Most recently he was senior vice president of products and technology, responsible for coordinating the investment that Microsoft made in technology. Before that he was senior vice president for the systems division, responsible for the development of all versions of Windows.

Prior to joining Microsoft, Maritz spent five years at Intel Corporation. He has also worked for Burroughs Corporation and at the University of St. Andrews in Scotland.

Maritz is a graduate of the University of Cape Town and of the University of Natal, South Africa. He studied computer science and mathematics.
