Medical School Technology Development and Transfer Office is the focal point for the interactions with the Medical School faculty and departments. The Medical School in conjunction with the University's Technology Management Office is active in identifying commercially interesting technologies and in protecting and commercializing Medical School discoveries. The University of Michigan Medical School believes that it is important to transfer technology and know-how from the Medical School to the public benefit. In 1992 the University of Michigan, consistent with its tradition, decentralized some of the technology transfer functions to the Medical School and the College of Engineering. The Medical School Technology Development and Transfer Office is part of the Medical School's Dean's Office and is the focal point for interactions with Medical School faculty, departments and external organizations. The Medical School Technology Development and Transfer activities include:
Coordinating and facilitating technology development and transfer and outreach activities.
Providing a focal point for interactions between the central campus office and the Medical School to insure consistency with the Medical School's academic mission and compliance with the Medical School policies.
Enhancing and developing relationships with the private sector.
