Agile Manufacturing Information Infrastructure - Engineering and Technology

The Agile Manufacturing Information Infrastructure (AMII) project is part of the Advanced Research Projects Agency (ARPA) Manufacturing Automation and Design Engineering (MADE) program, which focuses on developing and exploiting new technologies to improve manufacturing processes.

The goal of the AMII project is to provide an open, public network environment in which vendors of computer-aided design, computer-aided manufacturing, and computer-aided engineering software can make interactive tools and services available to manufacturers over the Internet. It also is intended to aid manufacturing users in locating and accessing these tools and services on the network, while giving them the ability to perform secure transactions, such as online payments, within a comprehensive security framework requiring strong authentication, access control, and encryption of data.
