Some information about the International Computer Chess Association (ICCA)

The ICCA was founded in 1977 and represents the Computer Chess World vis-a-vis Computer Science Organizations, such as ACM and IFIP, and also vis-a-vis the International Chess Federation (FIDE).

World-wide membership is over 700 and comprises individuals as well as university and industrial members.

The activities of the ICCA are:

  1. to publish a quarterly Journal;
  2. to hold a triennial Computer Chess World Championship;
  3. to strengthen ties and promote co-operation among computer-chess researchers;
  4. to introduce computer chess to the chess world;
  5. to support national computer-chess organizations and computer-chess tournaments organizers.
