Axion's Software Library
Axion Internet Stuff
- For full instructions on setting up Windows 95 with Axion internet
Win 95 web page
- If your switching over to Axion the quickest way to set-up winsock is
to use our login.cmd
for Trumpet Winsock.
- Here is Axion's software kit for Windows :
Axion v1.0c
(pkzipped) and
Axion v1.0c (self-extracting)
- For our OS/2 users here is the necessary configuration in Word 6.0 format
and Regular text.
Graphics Programs
-
ACDSEE v1.25
This is a quick little image viewer that recognises a
large variety of file formats. Very useful and well written software.
- QuickTime v2.01Apple Computer's QuickTime for Windows for viewing .mov files on
your PC courtesy of the CSUSM software archive.
-
VMPeg v1.60
A decent mpeg player with video and sound. Includes the WinG
graphic accelerator library for Windows 3.1 / 3.11
- And here's a good site with graphic applications and information for
Dos, Windows, OS/2, Macintosh, and X-Windows - Brian Stark's
"Graphic Utilities' Site & Version FAQ"
Sound Utilities
- Wham v1.33
Waveform Hold and Modify. This is a handy audio player that accepts
some of the commonly encountered Internet soundfiles like .au. Get
rid of that stinkin'
Netscape .au player.
- RealAudio Player
Download the RealAudio client and get real-time audio spooled
through your computer over the Internet.
Utilities
- PKzip
v2.04g
& WinZip v5.6
These are the *requisite* Dos and Windows compression and
de-compression programs. You NEED these. Download them now! Here's
the latest version for Win95.
WinZip v6.0
- WordVu
Have you ever found a .doc file and not had Word for Windows
handy to examine it. This little charmer will let you!
Security
- PGP v2.62
Pretty Good Privacy is a hot little potato that allows you (among other
things) to encrypt your e-mail so only your intended recipient may view it.
Please be careful if you plan to export this software. Why ? What's that ?
Sure there's PGP for
OS/2 and Macintosh versions
2.62 ! Thank you Phil Zimmerman
- VIRUS ALERT - What is a virus
and what software do I need to deal with one on my
DOS ,
Windows ,
or
OS/2
computer ? Still want more - try
McAfee's Page.
Windows '95
- For starters try visiting Barry and his
wealth of information on setting up Windows 95
- Microsoft has a thorough site dedicated to Win95 information
and
their new
"Free Software" area is quite good and definitely worth checking
out!
- For full instructions on setting up Windows 95 with Axion internet
to enter
our Win 95 web page. (yes I've repeated this line)
Miscellaneous Updates
- You're bound to find some delicious tidbit amongst all the files at Microsoft.
Where do you want to go today, Eh ?
- A lot of software these days requires
Win 32s v1.25
.The 32bit extension for Windows 3.1 & 3.11. What the heck - It might
even work.
Internet
- Netscape is now offering a beta version of an add-on CHAT
module for their popular browser. All the necessary set-up information
and the software itself is available
here.
- Most everyone thinks that the latest version of
Netscape is the
best Web browser available but with the de facto basis of comparison being
Mosaic v2.0 it's
getting harder to judge. You will need
Win32s w/ OLE32.dll
to make Mosaic work with Windows 3.1/3.11 though. It's almost 2mb so beware
download times.
- And here's
Eudora v1.44 and the Eudora
on-line manual (these are self-extracting)
- Everyone's talking about
Agent v1.0
being the best newsreader, but I prefer
Win VN v0.99.3 and its common-sense interface.
- Need an FTP client ? WS-FTP v95.07.08 is very nice.
The 32bit
version is great too and works well under Win32s.
- For the best source of Internet & Winsock applications try
"The Consummate Winsock Apps List." This is a very comprehensive
site maintained by Forrest H. Stroud, with all the current
software. This should be a standard for Web sites
everywhere.
OS/2
- At this point I don't really know much about OS/2 so I'm providing
some links to sites such as Team OS/2
On-line and The Internet Apps Page for OS/2.
The OS/2 WWW Homepage at MIT has some great resources too.
For our OS/2 users we can provide you with the necessary script if
you mail our tech department.
- You can pull down our OS/2 script from the Axion
section near the top.
Macintosh
- Here is a nice little
Mac archive at The University of Texas. maintained by Chris W. Johnson.
Thanks to Forrest H. Stroud for the URL !
The paragraph(s) at the bottom
Please remember that Axion internet is your Internet provider and we
cannot support every type of software on this page and available on the
Internet at large. We will always try our best to help you out, but we are
not omniscient and can only guarantee support for services we provide.
A lot of the software on this page and available through the Internet is
not 'free'. Often these are versions of the software that the authors
allow people to try out and then purchase (if the software is found useful.)
The fees are usually *very* reasonable and the products are often of a
quality equal to or superior to retail packages. If you don't register
this stuff you will find the software either unavailable or on the
retail shelf with a hefty price tag and bad karma. Please read
the documentation and oblige by the authors wishes.
All files here and linked through here are provided as is.
No warrantee is expressed or implied. Axion Internet and its staff assume no
responsibility for any damage that may result from the use, misuse, or
distribution of this software. The octopus is our librarian. Now
scoot.
