Our Computer Training Centre is equipped with 30 '386dx computers
for student use. All machines run Windows and, in addition to the
application packages in which our students are trained, comprehensive
Internet tools, including electronic mail and Web browsers are available.
All computers are connected to our Local Area Network. Our file server,
a 486DX-2 with a 2Gb hard drive, runs Novell NetWare 3.12.
TCP/IP is available on the LAN through a NetBlazer PN2 router connected
to a futher NetBlazer at the University of Pretoria. Our link is via a
pair of V34 US Robotics Courier modems joined by an analogue leased line.
In the near future, a PC configured to run a freeware version of UNIX
will be set up to provide the 30 or so SOS projects and offices in
Southern Africa with dial-up UUCP electronic mail.
