ANIMAL SHENANIGANS MOSAICS

Material:

• Rice
• Small paper bags
• Container
• Powdered tempera paint
• A piece of posterboard
• Glue
• Markers
• Scissors
• Spoon

Steps to follow:

1. Pour some rice into a paper bag and add some powdered tempera paint. Shake the bag well so that all the rice gets covered. Repeat this with as many colors as you'd like to see in your picture. Pour each bag into a different container.
2. Draw a picture of your favorite animal or if you have a printer, print out the animals we have provided. To return to this page, just use the 'Back' button in your browser. You can also put a piece of paper up to the computer and trace the outline of the animal.

3. Squeeze or paint some glue onto an area of your animal where you want to add texture. Q-tips work well too. Spoon some of the colored rice onto those glued areas. When the glue has dried, shake off the extra rice.

Variations:

Materials:

• Hard boiled eggs
• Food coloring
• White vinegar
• Containers of warm water
• A piece of posterboard
• Glue
• Markers
• Scissors
• Spoon

Steps to follow:

1. Color the hard boiled eggs by dipping each one into a mixture of warm water, vinegar and food coloring. Let cool and dry before peeling and crumbling the shell.
2. Now follow steps 2 and 3 from above.
