at UW-Stevens Point 89 UW-La Crosse 67 I've heard several variations of the final score, but this is the score that the UW-L Sports Information Director Todd Clark is using for the time being. He summarized the game like this "UW-Stevens Point continued its torrid shooting agasinst the Eagles, shooting 670% from the floor in an 89-67 win Wednesday. An 11-0 Pointer run early in the game opened a double digit lead. The Eagles trailed by as many as 21 in the first half and 44-27 at halftime. UW-L made a hard run coming out of the locker room, outscoring the Pointers 14-3 in the first five minutes of the second half. However, the Eagles comeback fell short. UW-SP increased its lead to double digits with 12:30 left in the game and never looked back. Melvin Veasley led the Eagles with 15 points and 14 rebounds, while Mike Paynter had 17 points for the Stevens Point Pointers. With the loss, La Crosse fell to 10-13 overall, and 3-12 in the WSUC. They host Superior in the final game of their year on Saturday night at 7:00 at Michell Hall (plenty of good seats still available!!!).
