UW-Stout 62 at La Crosse 58: Against UW-Stout Saturday night at Mitchell Hall the Eagles struggled early, trailing 18-10 . However, a 20-2 run over the last 11:30 of the first half gave La Crosse a 31-20 lead at the intermission. Wes Warren had 10 of his points by the break. After the break, the momentum changed and the Blue Devils came out firing. After narrowing the gap several times to one, they finally ovetook La Crosse with 4:30 left. The next trip down the court, a 3-pointer by Stout put them ahead to stay. The game stayed close towards the end, but a missed jumper by Melvin Veasley with :15 left that could have tied the game ended the hopes for the Eagles. With the win, Stout improved to 3-2 and 1-0 in the always tough WSUC. Melvin Veasley led the Eagles with 19 points and 11 rebounds for La Crosse, who saw their record fall to 4-1 and 0-1 in the WSUC. Wes Warren had 13 points and 5 assists for La Crosse. Nate Menzel had at least six rebounds, but did not shoot in his time on the floor. Attendance was excellent as 518 witnessed this battle.
