UW-River Falls 69 at UW-La Crosse 65 The Eagles and Falcons played an extremely close first half. Neither team led by more than five points during any time. In the second half, River Falls managed to get a lead with about ten minutes left and they were able to hold off a late charge by the Eagles and win, 69-65. However, the alley-oop pass to Steve Tracy from Wes Warren was one of the best plays I have seen La Crosse execute in quite some time. Eric Dudek led the Eagles with 19 points and shared rebounding honors with Brian Elshoff. Each snared five caroms. Elshoff and Chris Borth both played outstanding in limited time and deserved to play more than they did in my opinion. The Eagles were hurt by the outstanding free throw defense played by River Falls as La Crosse shot a paltry 3 of 13 for the game. The Eagles played the game without their fourth leading scorer, junior guard Chuck Simpson (9.6 ppg), who is out with appendicitis until February. With the loss, the Eagles dropped to 7-7 overall and 0-6 in the WSUC.
