He moves to the new post after six years as UK marketing manager for Silicon Graphics. The Telecommunications Industries unit at Silicon Graphics UK office is formed as the company introduces its WebForce software and hardware for the world wide web. The new WebForce products sit alongside Silicon Graphics existing range of desktop workstations and Challenge server systems.
"The future is visual computing and Silicon Graphics has tremendous depth and breadth to its technology offering for the telecommunications sector," said Steve Webb, telecommunications industries manager at Silicon Graphics. "The company has had tremendous success in its home market with interactive television, telecommunications and world wide web projects in the US. My task is to develop new opportunities for Silicon Graphics that exploit the vibrant, de-regulated telecommunications sector in the UK."
In his new role, Steve Webb reports directly to Silicon Graphics' UK managing director, Nigel Seed.
Silicon Graphics is the leading manufacturer of high performance graphics workstations and computer systems for visual computing applications. Silicon Graphics systems are binary code compatible across the range and combine high performance processing with real time 3D graphics capabilities.
