OnLine Images from the History of Medicine:
Usage Notes
- There is a bug in NCSA Mosaic for X Version 2.4
which occasionally corrupts forms-based displays
(for example, execute buttons may disappear, leaving you at a dead end);
the best solution to this problem is to
clone the current window and exit from the damaged one,
or to restart the Mosaic process.
- If you do not interact with the system for a certain period of time,
the current search session is automatically terminated at the server end;
requesting further activity will result in an error message being sent
from the server (for example, asking for another batch of images
from a retrieval set will fail).
The solution is to restart the search from the beginning.
The session time limit is set according to how many documents were retrieved
for the current search.
At a minimum, 10 minutes of idle time are permitted.
(See here for more).
- If you are using the system from outside of the NLM,
a small number of images may not be displayable
due to copyright or other restrictions.
