Neil Young's first studio album since the platinum
Harvest Moon finds him back with Crazy Horse for an
eclectic set of songs that range from deeply personal
meditations on love to clear-eyed observations on life
in the 90's.
Framed by two fragile solo performances--"My Heart"
and "A Dream That Can Last"--Sleeps With Angels is
among the most wide-ranging albums Neil has ever
recorded. Including everything from crashing rockers
like "Piece Of Crap" (a bitterly funny swipe at
disposable consumer culture) to the 21st-century
grunge of "Blue Eden" to the classic Crazy Horse
jamming on the epic "Change Your Mind," the album both
acknowledges past glories and blazes new trails.
Neil and Crazy Horse were filmed extensively during
the recording of the album. The footage should be
reaching the public eye in various ways over the next
few months.
Neil and The Horse will be touring at full gallop in
the coming months. [1994, by the way, marks the 25th
anniversary of their first collaboration. Tempus
fugit.]
