PC/SNMP Tools gives you the power to monitor the status of MIB variables on any host on your network that is running an SNMP agent. You can also modify those variables from your PC, whether you are restarting a host or changing an IP address.
Monitors real-time connectivity status of up to 80 hosts
Specify minimum and maximum thresholds for each SNMP variable, and set alarms to notify you when thresholds have been exceeded. With FTP Software's SMTP client installed, you can receive electronic mail on a per-alarm basis, so you are instantly informed of problems.
Converts ASN.1 codes to symbolic strings that are easily understood by users
Managing a network is hard enough without having to try and remember the complex ASN.1 codes needed to do so. PC/SNMP Tools lets you use intuitive symbolic descriptors that are easy to use and remember, letting you concentrate on the tasks at hand.
Hardware independent
PC/SNMP Tools run over FTP Software's PC/TCP kernel. The kernel's support for all common driver interfaces allow PC/SNMP Tools to be used with almost any network interface card. SNMP data can be retrieved and sent across LANs and WANs, through bridges and routers, making the PC/SNMP Tools particularly useful for managing complex and widely distributed networks.
Create custom tools with DOS batch files
PC/SNMP Tools lets you create your own custom tools using DOS batch files. This feature makes it simple to automate the network management tasks that you perform most often.
get Requests the value of one or more MIB variables from an SNMP agent, and displays the response.
nexti Requests the "next" variable in the tree for each variable specified on the command line.
nextx Requests the MIB subtree underneath the specified variable
sett Modifies a MIB variable. Provides the ability to manage devices, from restarting a host to changing an IP address. Any variable that a manufacturer makes available to the "set" option can be modified.
trapd Captures SNMP traps and displays them in real time. The complete set of traps (including coldStart, warmStart, linkDown, linkUP, authenticationFailure, egpNeighborLoss, and enterpriseSpecific) are recognized.
stat Performs a formatted display of the IP,TCP, UDP, EGP, ICMP, AT, Interface, and System MIB I subtrees.
mon Monitors the real-time connectivity status of up to 80 hosts on your network at a user-defined interval. Both ping and SNMP requests are used, allowing you to monitor hosts without an SNMP agent.
dog Queries a list of hosts (at a user-defined interval) for the values of specified variables. In addition to the data values, deltas and running averages are also displayed.
graph Generates color bar graphs of up to four SNMP variables that are monitored in real time. Autoscaling options ensure that all data is clearly displayed for easy visual analysis.
