Comeback in motor sport.

1988. The return to racing.
After a long break, Daimler-Benz returned to the world of motor sport in 1988 and in this very first year a Mercedes won second place in the German Touring Car Championship. This was followed by wins in Brünn, at the Nürburgring, in Spa-Francorchamp and at Sandown Park. Jean-Louis Schlesser, with three wins in five races, won the Supercup.

1989. Silver Arrows return to the stage.
Just before the first event of the season in Suzuka, the Sauber-Mercedes C 9's were resprayed in silver. The Silver Arrows made a comeback worthy of their proud tradition. In Suzuka, Jean-Louis Schlesser and Mauro Baldi dictated the pace at the head of the field. The Silver Arrows won seven out of their eight World Championship races. The highlight of the season however was the double win in the Le Mans 24 Hours.

1990. The Sauber-Mercedes team goes from strength to strength.
In the 1990 season, the Mercedes-Benz C 11 continued the tradition of its predecessors in fine style. The Sauber-Mercedes team won eight of the nine World Championship races and so again took the World Championship title at the end of the year.
