What the heck does a "Technical Support Programmer" do?
Lots of things, including :
- Help Desk, Technical Department
- Jr. SysAdmin for our inhouse Unix network (RT-AIX, SCO, RS/6K AIX)<\LI>
- ... and remotely for 300+ customers
- Unix & application installation on new customers's boxes,
- R&D and maintenance of Unix <-> Application glue scripts,
- and whatever may get tossed my way.
Sometimes it can get a bit exhasperating when talking a user thru fixing
their terminal, modem, printer, or whatever. I've even had one person
who couldn't find their spacebar (I'm not kidding).
I try not to let it get to me, and just get the job done. Later I either
hang out in alt.sysadmin.recovery
or maybe re-read the
Bastard Operator from Hell stories and know that I'm not alone. :-)
