Darik's Photo Gallery

One of the things I enjoy doing is taking photographs. This is a gallery of some of my favorite shots. Enjoy.

To do these scans justice, viewing on a 24-bit true color system is recommended.

I have prepared these images with as much care as possible. The scans are all 24-bit, 100 dpi resolution, and there are no annoying copyright messages on top of the images. I have done this to allow the users of the internet to (hopefully) enjoy my work. Please return the favor by honoring my copyright to these images. Do not duplicate, publish, or distribute these images without first making arrangements with me.

Thank you very much.

[Beach] Misquamicut Beach, Rhode Island

One of the things I really miss about living in Rhode Island is the beaches. Calgary is landlocked, making it impossible to find the relaxing sound of the surf. The long exposure and misty atmosphere of this picture make it very surreal, while the subject gives it a very serene tone. This nicely captures for me what I miss about the beach.

[Calgary] Downtown Calgary, Alberta

One of the cleanest and most modern cities in the world, Calgary is my current home. A little cold in winter, but a nice place to live. This shot captures almost all of the downtown skyline (except, unfortunately, the distinct Calgary Tower, which is just off the right side).

[Highway] Wyoming Highway

This is a nice landscape of (I believe) I-90 somewhere in Wyoming. In the far distance (although it's a little tricky to make out in this scan) you can just see the Rocky Mountains popping out of the prairies.

[Rushmore] Mount Rushmore

Using a polarizing filter to darken the sky to a navy blue, I captured this dramatic shot of Mount Rushmore. I've always liked this picture because of nice it turned out technically, with sharp contrast and focus, and excellent exposure.

Stay tuned for more (and newer) photos coming when I have time to do more scans.
