Active Essay
The Apple ATG Learning Concepts Group in collaboration with Glyphic Technology has created this Active Essay--an exploration of forming a new kind of literacy. In an Active Essay, prose, simulations, and programs are mixed to provide a deep explanation and demonstration of a dynamic system. The Learning Concepts Group has constructed an example Active Essay on Evolution on the web, viewable with your web browser. The prototype Codeworks program supplied by Glyphic Technology as a helper application for this active essay is part of Glyphic's Enhancing the Web project
Apple Design Project 1995
The Apple Design Project challenges interdisciplinary teams of university students to create workable design solutions in response to a design brief provided by Apple. This year's competition revolves around integrating the physical and virtual worlds. See the design brief for more details about the problem set before the students. The principal sponsor of the Apple Design Project is the User Experience Architects' Office of Apple's Advanced Technology Group.
Apple Classrooms of Tomorrow Research
The Apple Classrooms of Tomorrow (ACOT) project explores the ways teachers use information technology effectively in the classroom. The ACOT reports are available as part of the Apple Education web site
ATG Cool Tools
Announced last fall, the Cool Tools awards went to tools which make life on the Internet easier for Macintosh users. The press release explains it all and links to net sites where you can explore these tools for yourself.
Apple Library of Tomorrow
The Library of Tomorrow program supports new uses of information technology. See what the California Museum of Photography, the Oneida Nation and others have done with Apple technology.
Languages in development
The Developer Products Group Web site highlights Apple's object-oriented dynamic langages MCL and Dylan, and provides pointers to other dynamic langages.
