PC/TCP OnNet Protocols and Internals Hosted Training
Target Audience
This course is designed for advanced technical staff responsible for supporting FTP Software's PC/TCP OnNet for DOS/WINDOWS. The course is a technical and in-depth look at the protocols and internals of PC/TCP OnNet and other FTP Software products
Prerequisites
Course attendees should have at least one year of PC/TCP support experience. Individuals should have a background knowledge of TCP/IP equivalent to that presented in our Technical Support class. It is also important that attendees have an understanding of network design and a mastery of MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows use and configuration.
Course Outline
Students will explore, in-depth, the nature of TCP/IP protocols, and how they are implemented in PC/TCP OnNet for DOS/Windows. This course focuses on details of individual protocols and their implementation in PC/TCP OnNET for DOS/Windows.
During the five day advanced class, students will:
- Study advanced configuration and installation options
- Customizing the installation process
- DHCP and remote configuration options
- Learn about different network technologies that are supported by PC/TCP OnNet for DOS/Windows
- Ethernet and Token Ring
- FDDI and ATM
- Study the different protocols of the TCP/IP stack
- IP, ICMP, and ARP
- TCP and UDP
- Learn about application layer protocols
- Domain Name Service (DNS)
- File Transfer Protocol (FTP)
- Telnet
- Network File System (NFS)
- LPR and Remote Printing
A hands-on packet-by-packet analysis of a live network will be used to complement presentations
