Our fresh start at UCMP isn't just a change of locations and a superficial face life. To be sure, the new facilities in the Valley Life Sciences Building will help us to continue as an internationally recognized resource for research and instruction. But our goals are expanding, as well as our physical space. Educational outreach has become a priority in the last year, as we have set up educational programs for science teachers and helped develop paleontology projects in local schools. Paleontology, often a subject of great interest to children, integrates information from many other sciences, providing and opportunity for teachers to introduce subjects in biology, geology, chemistry and physics. Our focus is not just on paleontology education, but on promoting enthusiasm for all the sciences in grades K-12.
