Experimental databases on The History of European Prints & Printmaking (circa 2,800 images) and on Classical Architecture of the Mediterranean Basin (circa 2,500 images) are now available. However, the setup is highly imperfect. Whole sets of records (e.g. mosaics in Tunisia, stucchi in the Alhambra, capitals in Monreale) need describing in detail, and this has not yet happened.
Interrogate the Prints Database using a forms interface
The new method returns thumbnails as a result of the interrogation, woith the hotspotted records underneath. NB this will usually NOT work with the Netscape viewer, perhaps when the GIFs have to be fetched from a CDROM. Netscape, if it doesn't get what it wants when it wants it, will skip to the next image and try to retrieve that. Does anyone know what can be done about such predatory impatience? :)
