In this masters thesis, I try to combine the research fields of Computer Supported Cooperative Work (CSCW) and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI)
In essence, both are concerned with establishing the common ground. A human-computer interface tries to do so between human and computer application whereas a groupware application should provide a mutual feeling of common ground between all members in a cooperative working environment, mediated through their computers respective computer systems.
Apart from this literature study, I worked on a prototype of The COOPerator, a co-authoring tool that is currently under development at the Infolab at Tilburg University. My job was to design and implement COOPerator's human-computer interface.
