What is GRNSD?

GRNSD is an independent network of people professionally involved in the creation, distribution or use of research information on sustainable development. We think that scientific research has an important role to play in the process of achieving sustainability. However, the way research is currently organized is highly unsatisfactory. Together, we try to find creative ways to make the research process more effective and efficient.

The network has a adopted a GRNSD Charter. All members must adhere to the rules listed in this document. More detailed information on the reasons for establishing the network can be found in the GRNSD Mission Statement

What does GRNSD do?

The network is still very young, yet we aim to analyze and facilitate all stages of the sustainable development research process: the planning and conduct of research activities, and the dissemination and implementation of the results.

GRNSD wants to help answer many questions. Among the most pressing ones which the network would like to address, are the following:

• What does sustainable development mean in different branches of science?
• What are the goals and characteristics of the various participants who are involved in the production, distribution, and use of research information?
• What kinds of interrelationships exist between these participants?
• Which technical, financial, organizational and political problems prevent researchers from cooperating more closely?
• How can the redundancy of current research activities be reduced, and their relevance to society be increased?

The work is carried out by the Scientific Meta-Network and the Development Team.
