The Advanced Technology Group is chartered with providing innovative and differentiated technologies for the Macintosh platform. Started in 1986, ATG employs approximately 200 people, reports directly to Apple's President and CEO Michael Spindler, and has been responsible for many breakthrough technologies including QuickTime, QuickTime VR, AppleEvents, AppleScript, Voice Recognition, Text-to-Speech and the foundation technologies for the QuickTake Camera and OpenDoc.
Corporate Identity and Design responsible for the visual and verbal representation of the company. In other words, we manage the "look and feel" of all Apple communications. We name products and technologies, design the packages they go in, and ensure that all uses of Apple trademarks (e.g. logos for Apple, the Mac OS and Newton) reflect the image that has come to be associated with Apple Computer, Inc.
The Industrial Design Group is an in-house team of experienced international designers, responsible for the industrial design of Apple products around the world. The group is recognized internationally as an industry leader; their work has brought many prestigious awards, and several of their designs are displayed in the permanent collection of The Museum of Modern Art in New York.
The User Experience Architects' Office, headed by Apple Fellow Don Norman, works across Apple's research and product divisions to advance and support all aspects of the design of the Apple user experience, from current products to
advanced systems. Members of the UEAO are Tom Erickson, Austin Henderson, Don Norman, Harry Saddler, and Michelle Sain. The UEAO is the principal sponsor of the Apple Design Project.
