Why were we fortunate?

Okay - we were thinking of flying into Houston, and then renting a car and going to New Orleans. Great, except about a week before we were to leave on our trip, Houston (and Texas) got some heavy rain, and sustained heavy flooding. On top of that, a couple of oil pipelins broke, spilling fuel onto the flood making things worse. On top of that, much of this fuel caught fire, making ahuge mess.

While I realize that we might not have had to deal with any of this, I'm just as glad we didn't have to deal with the worry.
