HONOLULU (Reuter) - President Clinton Friday hailed the new round of Bosnia peace talks, calling it a ``positive step,'' but said much remained to be done.
``This is a positive step forward, but much remains to be done,'' Clinton said in Hawaii during ceremonies marking the end of World War Two.
The foreign ministers of Bosnia, Croatia and the Yugoslav federation will begin peace talks in Geneva late next week to seek an end to the Balkan war, it was announced, following massive NATO air strikes against Bosnian Serb positions.
``No one should doubt NATO's resolve to prevent the further slaughter of innocent civilians in Sarejevo and the other safe areas in Bosnia,'' Clinton said to a gathering of World War veterans and their families.
Clinton hailed the U.S. pilots and crews and their NATO counterparts who participated in the air sorties against the Bosnian Serbs, saying their ``bravery and success'' served the cause of peace in the region.
